This morning was a cold one. It was 16 degrees walking to the studio. But luckily for my brand new leg warmers and my head to toe down coat and turtle fur ear warmer band, I was pretty snug. I swear those leg warmers were the best idea I’ve had in a while, especially after my last experience in the super cold. Ouch! I went to bed before 10:00pm last night and I needed it. I just couldn’t keep my eyes open. Woke up tired, but starting to wake up after the cold air smacked me in the face.
It was a good class. I tweaked my left knee somehow walking down the stairs to the subway last night, so I really had to baby it this morning. Up and down stairs, up on curbs, sitting down in chairs. Annoying! I’m used to my right knee giving me problems, but the left now has a very sharp pain when I hit certain ranges of motion. For the most part though, it didn’t affect my practice too much.
I think Eagle Pose is the bane of my existence. No matter what, I feel like I just can’t improve on this one. I’ve also tried wrapping my leg around my other leg at work while sitting in a chair and it just doesn’t go that way. Eagle Pose is not for girls with meaty thighs!

Cobra Pose was really good for me today. I put my hands even lower and used more of my spine to pull me up and could really feel the difference. It was hard, but a good feeling at the same time. I pretty much feel the same way about most poses in Bikram I think.

I had some good balance on Balancing Stick today. I locked my leg and really stretched from end to end. It just felt solid. That feeling only happens here and there for my balancing poses, and when it does, it’s a good feeling. Now if I could transfer that to the other ones, I’d be golden!
One thing I noticed today was the heat in the room. Or the lack there of. It was a noticeable difference. Especially on such a cold morning. Not that I didn’t sweat like usual, but I noticed. I think it took a little longer to get warmed up as well, but it wasn’t too bad. I guess it’s just really hard to keep the right temperature with the right % of humidity in these rooms. But I still felt great after class…so who cares!
